The School of Gender Studies organized a vibrant and inclusive Onam celebration on August 24, 2023, with the theme “Pride Onam.” The event aimed to redefine traditional festivities, making a noteworthy political statement within the university. This innovative celebration not only honored the cultural significance of Onam but also sought to promote inclusivity and pride within the diverse student community. The festivities included traditional Onam rituals such as Pookalam (flower carpet) and Onam Sadya (feast), The “Pride Onam” theme emphasized the importance of embracing diversity and fostering a sense of inclusiveness and thus served as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.

Students, faculty, and staff actively participated in various events that showcased a harmonious blend of tradition and progressiveness. The “Pride Onam” celebration not only added a vibrant cultural touch to the campus; it was a testament to the school’s dedication to creating an open and welcoming environment for all members of the academic community.
