The School of Gender Studies in association with the Institute for Multidisciplinary Social Science organized a panel discussion on the movie titled “Kaathal: The Core”. The panel discussion provided a platform for the students to interact with the filmmaker of the recent movie “Kaathal” and to listen to varied perspectives on the visualization and lived experiences of queerness in Kerala’s cultural setting. The session was moderated by Dr. Rekha Raj and the speakers included the director of the film Jeo Baby, writer Dr. Resmi. G and research scholars Anagh and Aadhi. The event opened up discussions among students, scholars, and faculties on how queer relationships are conceived in mainstream cinema and the challenges in portraying the same.  A healthy discussion around LGBTQIA+ films is crucial for creating awareness, dismantling stereotypes, and promoting inclusive dialogues, contributing to a more empathetic society.
