The Pre-Pride Event in solidarity with the 12th Kerala Queer Pride, hosted by the School of Gender Studies at Mahatma Gandhi University, unfolded on October 26, 2023, with a warm reception for distinguished guests, Mehru Akshay Teresa and Parvathi Kuttappan from the Dhwani Cultural Society for Transgender Persons, Kottayam. The program commenced with the symbolic raising of a rainbow flag, led by Menhru Akshay Teresa and the Director of the School of Gender Studies. This gesture served as a powerful representation of solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community.
The event featured engaging games that garnered enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, fostering a sense of inclusivity. A musical band program further added to the ambiance, providing a soothing backdrop for the audience.
The welcome speech emphasized the significance of the gathering, acknowledging and celebrating the diversity and resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community. The event served as a call for inclusivity, demanding respect and declaring that love transcends boundaries.
